Will New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart Chose a Presidential Photo-Op over Principle?

Erin Stewart: Republican Free-thinker
or modern-day Democratic Prop?
It is reasonable that local politicians should follow expected protocol and extend personal pleasantries when important political dignitaries visit their community. And it is The King's view that this should be certainly be the case when President Barack Hussein Obama visits Central Connecticut State University in New Britain on Wednesday, March 5th.

But make no mistake, President Obama's visit to The Hardware City isn't merely some accidental pit stop on the way to his next golf outing; Mr. Obama is intentionally using a newly reacquired Republican stronghold as the back-drop to promote his half-baked economic ploy to raise the minimum wage.

Mayor Erin Stewart should be cautioned to carefully weigh the role she will play when the President's Circus comes to town.  At a time when Connecticut Republican Party loyalists are furious over the perception that CTGOP leaders (and in particular their would-be gubernatorial candidates) are hesitant and weak on both economic and social issues, it will be critical for Ms. Stewart, a leading Republican, to avoid getting caught up in the theatrics of the moment, and remind Mr. Obama and Mr. Malloy that Connecticut's economy has suffered tremendously as a result of liberal Democrat policies enacted by both of their regime's administrations.

Instead of traveling around Connecticut to promote a short-sighted scheme to raise the wages of high school students employed by their neighborhood grocer, the White House and Governor's Office should be working to create real career opportunities for residents of the Nutmeg State. If Obama and Malloy surrogates persist to sell the line that they are trying to help the alleged 13% of seniors, and 55% of women stuck in minimum wage jobs, then perhaps you could ask them to lay out their specific plans to do so, and urge them to reduce the regulatory and tax burdens on small and large businesses, thereby creating better opportunities for the entirety of Connecticut's struggling workforce. She can also remind him of the CBO report which states that raising the minimum wage will result in the loss over a half million jobs in the USA.

On Wednesday, while the President dazzles his staged union audience, Mayor Stewart has an unique opportunity to either stand in the background, clapping, and cheering like most good little collaborative Connecticut Republicans usually do, or to greet the President like a brave, new opposition leader and point out the misgivings of his band-aid politics. This means refusing to play a part in his public relations charade.

This will be the test for an upstart CTGOP leader who could take this opportunity to teach our present State Party Chairman, noncommittal Republican politicians, and others what it's like to have real courage, and stand up for Republican principles which so many in our Party, have for too long abandoned.  Anyone who tells you to put politics aside to aid the President in his photo-ops endeavor should remember that "silence is acceptance" and it's up to a few brave souls to respectfully protest counter-productive policies.

The Hartford Courant Misfires at Republican Candidate Joe Visconti

Republican Gubernatorial Candidate
Joe Visconti is the latest victim of
The Courant's anti-gun agenda
Have you seen it?  I'm referring to the half-cocked editorial Bravado Alone Won't Stop Gun Toll which served as a hit piece on Gubernatorial Candidate Joe Visconti published by The Hartford Courant's editorial team early last evening.  This entry responds to the the poorly contrived notion that somehow Connecticut's newest gun law - touted as "the toughest gun law in the land" is the panacea for curbing gun violence that both Governor Dannel P. Malloy and The Courant's staff writers claim.  The editorial, much like 2013 law, is an election year stunt contrived to exploit a horrific local tragedy for political gain and to paint Republicans in a bad light in order to deflect away from an incompetent Governor's exceedingly poor performance in Hartford.

The Courant's dismissive characterization of Joe Visconti's view that his armed presence would have made a difference at Sandy Hook (in similar contrast to NRA Executive Wayne LaPierre's viewpoint) is "too simple to be helpful" is an unfortunate attempt to fudge the issue. Whatever one's view of armed police presence at schools, it's irrational to conclude that an armed guard wouldn't have made a difference at Sandy Hook Elementary on that terrible day.  Then to use a singular example of an armed deputy missing his fired shot at Columbine as a justification for their position is simply poor argumentation; The King would urge The Courant to do their homework and research the dozens of stories where shopkeepers, would-be victims, and ordinary citizens have been saved (and saved others) in many situations because they were armed.

It's a far stretch to assume that registering magazines and guns would've somehow prevented heinous crimes like those which occurred at Columbine, Aurora, the Navy Shipyard, Virginia Tech, or even Sandy Hook, and pure fantasy to assume that taking such action would prevent similar crimes in the future. Registries might be utilized as research tools after a crime has been committed, but it's highly unlikely that any of the villains of the aforementioned atrocities would have gone to their local municipality to fill out a pile of government-mandated paperwork, and even if they did - it's highly imaginative to insist that any of these atrocities would have been prevented.

"The editorial, much like 2013 law, is an election year stunt contrived to exploit a horrific local tragedy for political gain and to paint Republicans in a bad light in order to deflect away from an incompetent Governor's exceedingly poor performance in Hartford. " - The King

This mad line of thinking is further trumped by the insistence that somehow schools wouldn't be safer with armed security guards or any type of armed police or security presence - as is the case in several metropolitan cities and suburban towns.  Not only do children and families feel safe in these districts, they actually are safer as a result of taking such proactive, preventative measures.  Despite the prevailing utopian academic view, not all violent crimes can be magically prevented by the use of over-medication, psychology sessions, and community meetings.

While the editors make the unsourced claim that 32,000 gun deaths occur every year (and taking their word that they didn't make that statistic up), the Center for Disease Control and the NHS report that you're more likely to be killed in an auto-accident than in some random gun shooting.  In fact, according to the FBI, you're more likely to be killed with a club or hammer  or by someone's hand or foot than by a rifle of any type.  Since most union members own a hammer, we won't sit and wait for The Courant and Dan Malloy to seek an outright ban on this controversial weapon. (Mr. Visconti as former carpenter would likely make the short list).

"It was likely Mr. Green in the Conservatory with a Hammer"

And did it ever occur to the Rhodes Scholars at The Courant that it only takes one bullet to commit the act of suicide?  One would surmise this would rule out the use of large capacity magazines as the cause.  If The Courant is so hell-bent on banishing guns, then why not call for an all-out ban on the most utilized weapon by criminals - the handgun?  And isn't this what The Hartford Courant is really hoping for?  An outright ban on all guns? And by the way - while half of suicides are reported to be committed by firearm, the other half are committed by poisoning, suffocation (hanging), and other means.  There is nothing scientific to suggest that if a person intends to commit suicide that if they didn't have a gun that they wouldn't find another method to kill themselves.

Missing from any argument by liberals are statistics showing gun ownership as a deterrent against crime.  Evidence suggests that due to the increase in gun purchases/ownership that crime is down.  And while mental disorders have played a role in violent crime (and suicides), there is little evidence to suggest that guns of any type are the root cause for these incidents.

If liberals really want to find out the root cause for violent crime and suicides then they won't have to look very far to find the answer.  It lies in the increasing decay of economic and social conditions in inner cities, and in middle class neighborhoods - and a general ineptitude by parents refusing to properly raise their children.  With the rise in unemployment spurred by anti-business policies enacted by Governor Dannel Malloy, the Democratic Party, and President Barack Obama, coupled with the ongoing state-sponsored mockery of the traditional family unit, it's no wonder that Connecticut crime statistics are increasing to record highs.  It's unfortunate that after years of Democratic Control over both Connecticut Legislative Chambers that Connecticut's media is unwilling to make the clear connection.

Like most other liberal activists, The Courant's editorial team is notoriously anti-Second Amendment.  The past two days of editorials and a scan of their archives illuminates this fact.  Truly, the only time The Courant takes interest in either the Bill of Rights or The Constitution is when they believe their Freedom of Speech or Freedom of Press is being encroached.  Freedom of Religion, they believe, only extends to Muslims who are just trying to navigate their way in a world full of hostile Christian Fundamentalists. The remaining Constitutional provisions, they believe, are best left relegated to the Age of Sail - never to be invoked again.

Before The Courant opts to write a hit piece on behalf its Democratic allies, it would behove them to get their facts straight, source their work, and like a legitimate journalistic shop - recognize that there  very well might be more than one point of view of gun ownership aside from turning all gun owners into potential mass-murderers.  Until then, their editorial is just another self-inflicted wound on their dwindling credibility.

And other Republicans Candidates should heed The King's advice - cowering to progressive whims, or fearing to challenge the looney left's coordinated attack on basic Constitutional Rights (such as Second Amendment Rights) out of fear that they too will be singled out, brought up on stage, and "made an example of" by our local media radicals - will make you not only an enemy of The King, but also of Country.

The bottom line is - if the rest of the country followed Connecticut's lead, violent criminals - nationwide - who would be unaffected by these pointless laws, would have an extended Field Day.

Is Sandy Hook Dan Malloy's Reichstag Fire Moment?

Connecticut Democrats aided by
liberal judges are eager to contrive
their own Van Der Lubbe moment
The horrific shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School will forever stand out as one of the worst tragedies in Connecticut History; perhaps, only the Hartford Circus Fire of 1944 may be regarded as the single worst disaster of all time in the Nutmeg State which resulted in 652 casualties including 168 deaths.

When incidents like these arise - accidental or not - politicians are quick to seize the moment of exploitation for their own political designs.  In 1944, in order to quell an outraged public, Connecticut politicians performed a knee-jerk reaction and banned Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus outright from setting foot again in Connecticut; a ban which remained intact until the 1970s.  In much the same way, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and his anti-gun antagonists are using Sandy Hook as their catapult issue to advance their ambitions to ban a variety of guns from the hands of law abiding citizens.

While neither the Great Hartford Circus Fire, nor the Sandy Hook Massacre are believed to be a state contrived catastrophes, the Democrat Party has been very quick to utilize the Sandy Hook tragedy as impetus to advance a political agenda which seeks to redefine the Second Amendment and seize personal weapons and ammunition from law-abiding Americans.  At all times in history, from 1774 to 1862 to 1933 to 2014, tyrants have gone out of their way to eliminate the means of citizens to defend themselves - not from each other - but from Government.

After the events of Sandy Hook, Connecticut Democrats quickly maneuvered to pass legislation to enact what they called, "one of the toughest gun laws in the country." Without a public hearing, any debate, rhyme nor reason, the law passed just past 1 am on April 4 in the Connecticut Senate and was immediately signed into law midday on April 4, 2013 by Dannel Malloy.  The law includes creating a registry for guns that hold more than 10 magazines, the banning of high capacity magazines, creating the country's first so-called dangerous weapons offender registry, and most important - a ban on guns considered "assault weapons" (although the definition is highly subjective).

Connecticut law demanded that all gun owners were to register their assault weapons and declare their large capacity magazines prior to December 31, 2013 or face prison sentence up to five years and/or a $5000 fine.  Editors at The Hartford Courant, the liberal newspaper of record were quick today to sum up their position on the matter: "If you want to disobey the law, you should be prepared to face the consequences."  Really?  Funny, did you mean all laws or just these gun laws recently passed?

The King can't remember similar finger-wagging sentiment from The Courant when it comes to following the law to show IDs to vote, or deporting illegal aliens who are here illegally after-all. Taking it a step further we've seen The Courant's employees support other benefits for illegals including free tuition loans, drivers licenses, and even the right to vote for President.  Then we could go into hundreds of examples were laws are bent to support the President's decision to change the HealthCare Reform Bill at least 22 times without a vote, or to expand Executive Power through the use of Executive Orders.  It's amazing to know that those who once spent their college years adorned in beads and sandals, adhering to Dennis Leary's Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out mantra, cursing Richard Nixon and the abuses of the Executive Branch have grown-up to become Big Government's loudest surrogates pushing the expansion of Government control over individuals rights.  Boy, times changed!

So now the media sits and waits.  And we wait - for the knock at the door.  Surely, there must be a Marinus Van Der Lubbe, or Tea Party member who harbors ill-will against Connecticut's Governor and all his statutes.

Malloy will use the State Police to
identify a nice "violator" to make an
example of

Just think.  There will be a raid on some quaint Connecticut town as if this were Waco, Texas.  The Connecticut State Police, in a blaze of glory, will storm some home (which will referred to as compound) with para-military SWAT teams and tanks.  This will take place in a small town like Morris, or Barkhamsted, or Ansonia, or Chaplin.  Many will be taken into custody, and dozens of so-called "military-style" weapons will be seized, and put on display for the public to see.

A big court spectacle will be held and it will be
covered by George Colli of WTIC who will
tweet us every tasty morsel

The Gun Rights members will be hauled before a Kangaroo Court where they will have already been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion as madmen who adhere to a 225 year old document.

Dan Malloy, and his Democratic cronies will pose with the
offending Constitutionalists, and seek to ban the right of
five or more conservatives so assemble at any given time

Now admittedly some of the worst gun-related shooting sprees have occurred on American soil in only the past few years. We saw Douglas Williams gun down seven people at a Lockheed Martin Plant in Mississippi; then in 2007 Seung Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people near the Virginia Tech Campus, then in 2010, Jared Lee Loughner shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford and murdered six others; In 2011, James Eagan Holmes dressed as The Joker shot 12 people in a Colorado movie theatre; in 2012 Andrew Engeldinger gunned down seven people in a movie theatre; in 2013, Gay Muslim Aaron Alexis killed 13 people at a Navy Shipyard,  as we know all too well in 2012, Adam Lanza killed 26 people, mostly children at Sandy Hook Elementary.  And there is one interesting connection  between all of these people  - every single one of them was a Registered Democrat.  And if you check out the local Hartford, Bridgeport, or New Haven police blotter - well, you'll probably find that a majority of those arrested or being sought for gun related murders aren't diehard Mitt Romney supporters.

While Governor Dan Malloy, and his chief hatchet man, Michael Lawlor, scheme up new ways to harass Connecticut gun owners, and The Hartford Courant serves as a Joseph Goebbels-style propaganda ministry on their behalf, we await the first victim (or set of victims) to be put before Connecticut's left-wing judicial firing squad.

And don't count on moderate Republican Leaders like John McKinney, Larry Cafero (or would be leaders like Tom Foley) to come to your rescue.   They're just a band of conscientious objectors happy to sit on the sidelines while law abiding citizens get railroaded.

The Arrogance of Lies and Deceit

It's getting to the point these days where it's hard to even pick up a newspaper for fear that the third or fourth shoe might drop in Connecticut's ongoing epic drama: Scandals and the Scandalous.  The problem with the whole damn thing is that this isn't your typical Reality TV show which usually ends with a rags-to-riches multi-million dollar prize winner, or the princess winding up with the prince and living happily ever after.  No, it's a real story about how Connecticut residents aren't being served by either political party - one no better than the other, and which have lost - their way, and the public confidence.  In other words, those being nominated as Connecticut's alleged best are in actuality Connecticut's very worst, and the public is getting screwed.

Now, I'm not really concerned with the Democrat Party and what happens to its collection of retreaded has-beens as they crumble in the press.  One doesn't have to look very far to see their head of Party - Governor Dannel Malloy place politics over reason when he went out of his way last month to support ex-con Ernie Newton.  Governor Malloy could have saved face and elevated his office by standing up for public decency and declaring that there isn't room anywhere in Connecticut politics for corrupt cretins like Newton.  So instead of taking the opportunity to inspire and rise above it all by preaching that crime doesn't pay, our incredible shrinking Governor got up on his high horse and declared that everyone deserves a second chance - everyone except former Republican Governor John Rowland, that is.  Could Party or Politics have played a role in such an unwavering endorsement? Oh, of course not!

Then we have Connecticut House Speaker Chris Donovan's finance scandal which continues to rock the scene and fill up our newspapers with tales of corruption and shady dealings.  Boy, what a credit to the State of  Connecticut - FBI agents showing up on doorsteps to visit our politicians still in their bathrobes while they sip lattes from their golden mugs.  How quaint. Amusing stuff to yuck up on Face The State right Brendan Sharkey? Sharkey told Dennis House this past Sunday: "Hahaha.  Well... it was a little embarrassing, because they asked about this bill, this roll your own bill.. I thought there were talking about the medical marijuana bill.. hahahaha.  Not the actual bill".  What a knee-slapping moment to share with the peanut gallery.  I mean it was so funny, I almost forgot to laugh.

And special thanks for Themis Klarides for doing such a nice job supporting Donovan on behalf of the CTGOP, "I agree with Brendan about how we feel about Chris, his character and integrity.... a man of his word and honor."  Hey, that's great! Why don't you campaign for him in CT-5 too while you're at it?  All week long, the Democrats shut Republicans out of the legislative process and our so-called leader just kissed the rear of the guy who helped orchestrate the shut-out.  Brilliant!  Republicans are self-checked with this kind of hair-brained leadership.  Amazing!

Connecticut Democrats can take pride in turning the Legislative Office Building into a scene from CSI.  It must have been a relief for the Democrat Party's key constituents - city dwellers, to see the cops crawling all over Party bigwigs instead of them for a change.  Of course, Governor Malloy couldn't keep his big mouth shut and let due process take its course - he had to run out and defend Donovan - "guilty until proven innocent,"  barked Malloy.  Man o' Man, this guy must have been some prosecutor.  But its no surprise to see Malloy defend bad guys like Donovan and Newton, because he repeated the same act a few months ago when he supported Komisarjevsky and Hayes - albeit indirectly through elimination of the Death Penalty.

The sad thing in all of this madness is that Connecticut Republicans aren't positioned to take advantage of Democrats getting pummelled on the ropes.  And that's because we're too busy bumping Democrats from the front page with our own own dirty scandals filled with tales of corruption and dishonesty.  Or we're too busy running candidates like the well-scripted Linda McMahon who can't even talk about - let alone defend - the dirty industry that she's made her millions from - which makes her a non-starter in the first place against even the worst Democrat the opposition might field in November.

So Lisa Wilson-Foley takes center stage as the CTGOPs corrupt candidate of the year.  Lisa Wilson-Foley told the press, "This is all a distraction.  I'm focused on the issues."  Yeah, well newsflash, BabeYOU are the distraction, and YOU are the issue!  You, Mr. Tuesday, Apple Rehab, and former Governor John Rowland.  It's sort of amazing to listen to John Rowland on WTIC these days - acting completely and utterly oblivious to all of this as he rages on against organized labor - he has some nerve.  It's like he's living in a parallel universe somewhere totally aloof to his role in helping the Wilson-Foley-Healy campaign crash and burn, and helping to create a level-playing field for Democrats in the Fifth Congressional District who should be sucking wind at this point in the game.  Can you imagine how many screeners TIC callers probably have to go through to get to The Guv?  I wouldn't be surprised if WTIC has a 4 minute delay just so they can beep out, or drop any caller who starts to go down the "wrong road" with unapproved questioning.

A friend of mine called me the other day to taunt me over the latest Republican headlines.  He said, "King, you have to agree that your team isn't any better than our team.  And in a Blue State where Democrats usually win - you guys are screwed because the public doesn't see you as decent alternativeThey'll stick with our cronies over your upstart crooks.  And Linda McMahon - she's a real gas.  Good luck with that one. Hahaha."

"Look fellas, no commercials, but at least Chris Shays has
his plane in the air. Formica, Obstinek, you're next!"

You have to feel bad for our stealth Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr.  Here Democrats are coming apart at the seams, yet our ex-Governor fueled by our ex-Chairman turn our Party into a totally mockery, and a non-factor.  On the one hand, you have Mrs. 38%  running around thinking she's going to be U.S. Senator, Lisa the Millionaire Barbie pretending that no part of the scandal has anything to do with her, and the rest of Republican field seems to be bouncing on and off the ground at 15 mph in their biplanes as CTGOP's worst candidates scream by in Jumbo Jets showering manure on the frustrated public below.  The whole thing is a living nightmare.

Just to think, tonight is the eve of the one year anniversary of Jerry Labriola, Jr. announcing he was running for State Chairman - if only he had crystal ball to see what fate had in-store for him: crooks, by-offs, bribes, and self-destructing candidates.  And party insiders who were willing to disregard polls prior to the State Convention, and then later buy-into polls showing favor toward their palm-greasing benefactor.  You can't make this stuff up.  And you can't prop up the unelectable either.  It's self-fulfilling prophecy - what has happened before will happen again.  And the Pat Sullivans of the world will laugh all the way to the bank regardless of the outcome while the rest of us can only dream of what might have been.

And one final note, The Norwich Bulletin's Ray Hackett surmised in his latest piece that that neither delegates nor voters care about the WWE.  It's not that, Ray.  It really isn't that.  It's that given the overall state of our political climate in Connecticut, and the pathetic and unqualified choices voters have been given to choose from - simply put - it's that no-one cares.  And that's a tough place to be in when you're wanting to turn a Blue State partially Red after nearly 23 years.

Someone remind me why I'm Republican again?

Unwanted Invasion: Sharia Law Conference in Hartford

Coming to America?
Pray not!
For most of us, Memorial Day weekend is a sacred time to honor those men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their Country.  Since 1775, the rich tradition of the U.S. Armed Forces has served as a tool of Freedom- not just in the United States but around the world - ending tyranny, and toppling despots to foster Democracy, and to a lesser extent republicanism.  Memorial Day is a clear reminder that thousands of Americans have given their lives for Liberty on behalf of all people regardless of race, color, or religious persuasion.  This is a stark contrast to the selfish hordes of extremists set to occupy our Connecticut Capitol City this weekend; those who thumb their noses at American Exceptionalism and our Western way of life in favor of a establishing a single Islamic authority over all Muslim-Americans.

Unfortunately, Hartford is currently hosting the 37th Islamic Circle of North America (ICNAcarefully entitled Defending Religious Freedom: Understanding Shariah.  The underlying theme is the advancement of subversive Sharia Law in the United States, and includes all the workshops to empower their minions to recruit and convert the mindless, and the destitute to their extreme way of thinking.  It is ironic that such a conference, un-American in so many ways, is being held in Hartford, home of Connecticut's Founder Thomas Hooker - a Puritan who fled England to establish a Christian way of life free from tyranny, and corrupt Church orthodoxy.  To witness such an invasion by those who's thinking is contrary to free people is an outrage, and crime against civilized peoples.

One only has to look across the pond to merry old England to see the amount of damage that can be inflicted upon a western nation through the advancement of Sharia Law.  The United Kingdom is perfect example where a small foothold once established as a liberal courtesy has grown to wreck havoc on a once proud democratic society; extremists have turned the country's judicial system upside-down to the point where entire boroughs and neighborhoods stand outside of British law. In such places, an established sub- government exists (Sharia Muslim Council) which have indirect the authority to act, and my most reports have been able to supersede the UK's Government and laws (mostly by virtue of the UK Government turning a blind eye to it's rulings).

Extremist Muslims love to talk about Religious Freedom except when it comes discussing the Judeo-Christian values which govern, and have contributed to our American Laws and Judicial process for over two centuries.  Muslim extremists have no interest in following Western Laws because they don't feel compelled to follow them.  Make no mistake, this not about the nice lady living next door who wears a Burka and says her prayers, it's about a real threat to our laws, traditions, and our way of life.  The religious freedom that Sharia demands is in direct conflict with civil liberties and basic freedoms which the U.S. Constitution affords all Americans.

Conservatives are sold on the horrors of Muslim Extremism including that of Sharia Law. Our politicians have long been on record pointing out its contradictions with American Constitutional Law and American Tradition.  Though its noteworthy that none of our nominated Connecticut politicians on either side of the aisle have to date been bold enough to take a public stand about this weekend's Sharia Conference.

Interestingly enough, the battle in the establishment of Sharia Law in America is the next true test of the legitimacy of so-called modern, American liberalism.  And I don't mean seeking their outrage over the banning of Lady Gaga from performing in public.  I want to know what feminists think about rolling back the clock to a point where women can be beaten for attending a book fair?  And what do liberal trial attorneys think about cutting off fingers as a punishment for petty theft?  Or far worse, what about honor killings that take the lives of women staying out too late at night? ICNA has made it very clear that Islam is above the law no matter what.  Where do liberals stand when it comes to acts of desecration and physical harm, or even murder in the name of Islam?  Any takers?  Or are you all hiding under rock waiting silently until the last plane leaves for Mecca?

Hello?  Mister Opinionated, Mr. Never-Short-On-Words - Governor Dannel Malloy, are you out there?

Ah, yes.... Defending Religious Freedom? Sure, like evicting an entire congregation out of a Country for being ChristianThomas Hooker would roll over in his grave at the level of this hypocrisy.

No matter how Muslim Extremists want to package Sharia Law to the Hartford Media (note: the Hartford Courant's Editorial Board has been curiously silent on the visit), or to the National Press - it will be full of contradictions, and indignation about so-called misunderstandings of intent.  But there will be no talk of how Muslims plan to impose penalties for those who violate Sharia Law (like those linked to above), and no use of words like Infidel so-commonly uttered in Mosques to describe non-believers.  Instead, Convention Leaders will parade out terms like Islamaphobia, and try to make themselves out to be victims of religious and racial bigotry.  Luckily, most The King's View readers are smart enough not be be suckered into such baloney, and see this Convention for what it really is.

Here on this 2012 Memorial Day Weekend, instead of assimilating into American Culture and showing respect for America's fallen heroes, Muslims will turn inward - focused on themselves and their subversive cultural agenda - and working to undermine the very fabric of our nation which the rest of us will honor all weekend long.

And least I forget: God Bless those great American patriots who have given everything so that we can be free.  We are indebted to you and your families forever.

Did Somebody Order a Pizza?

Most of the time, The King is a big defender of our boys in Grey.  Our Connecticut State Police Officers set the standard as the best State Police force in the Union - they work hard, they work long hours, and are always there when you need them.  Their professionalism on the job is first rate.  And I happen to be fortunate enough to know several of them on a personal level, and can tell you that they are just like you and I - but the burden of responsibility isn't something they stow away when they come home from a hellish day.  These guys and gals are on 24/7, and the stress is unbelievable.

As with any job, when thing go awry - it's usually caused by a foolish management decision which makes a public mess of things, and leaves the rank and file to take the heat for something that they had no involvement in.

If you haven't seen it yet, take a look at this memo issued Lt. Anthony Schirillo of the Bethany State Police Barracks:

WTNH TV Channel 8 is credited with releasing this story and the memo above

Now, I'm all for the police - state or otherwise - issuing tickets when warranted - reckless driving, speeding, cell phone use, and the rest.  I have no problem there - if you're breaking the law then by all means you should get pinched.

But this memo takes the matter to a whole new level.  For the most part, state police patrolman serve in a public safety capacity - this includes helping disabled motorists, to making sure highways are quickly cleared of accidents and so forth.  They are not out trying to "get people" in order to receive personal citations of merit.  The memo above is reckless because it demands that State Police Officers change direction, and go out of their way to become antagonistic toward the public.

The King was pleased to see State Police Union boss, Andrew Matthews, tell the press "Troopers are expected to do their job...We will do our job, but we don't need to be told we need a certain number of tickets within a specified period of time."

Amen to that! Ticket blitzing is simply unnecessary.  And I'm sure Connecticut families which are already suffering in this Obama-Malloy economy aren't happy to see the suggestion that sticking them with a $275 ticket for a moving violation will result in a round of pizzas for the boys in Bethany from Lt. Tony Schirillo.

AWOL from this story is a comment from Governor Dannel Malloy.  The Governor is the head of Connecticut's Public Safety - we know he runs to the State Armory to wear a yellow helmut and play the role of Superhero at the first sign of high wind or snow.  So what of it Gov?  Can you confirm that the directive to step up ticketing Connecticut residents didn't come from your office?

The King is suspect at the origin of where this strategy truly originates from.  Democrats need income to support their expensive schemes from somewhere - and squeezing c-notes from morning commuters, or soccer moms heading to the game, is a perfect tactic to advance their agenda.

A word of two of outrage from our Republican leaders is certainly warranted.  Someone needs to look out for the people suffering in this State.  We need folks like Larry Cafero to stand with Andrew Mathews and the State Police to condemn this travesty.

Legislative Alert: HB5389: Renamed: CT Democrats pro-marijuana crusade

Governor Dan Malloy and his protege - "Puff" The Magic Dragon

Last year, liberal Connecticut Democrats with help from a few off-the-wall Republicans supported a bill to decriminalize marijuana which eventually found its way to Governor Malloy's desk which he gleefully signed into law. The Senate version received a lot of publicity in Committee. You might recall the controversy over S.B. 1015: An Act Concerning the Palliative Use of Marijuana -  which by the way was another disgraceful "yea vote" by liberal Andrew Roraback.  You'll recall my piece on the matter entitled: Malloy: The Marijuana Governor? And you can imagine all of the angry emails I received from washed out, angry 60's nutcase who likely grow mounds of pot in the backyard for large-scale tie-dye smoke-ins.

"Stoned and being a fan of John Denver is no way to go through life, son."

And no offense to the many Ron Paul Libertarians who stop by to visit this blog, now and then.  I know you folks have a lot of passion, and are well-meaning, and you harbor extreme hatred for the Federal Reserve, but many of you are a little nutty when it comes to defining Liberty as the right to smoke a bowl where-ever, and whenever you please.  Some of you have gone so far as to express the view that "smoking pot is good for you." Sorry, not for me. And not for our children.  And let's face it, you'd have to be pretty baked to sell your crazy theories about a secret government 911 conspiracy, or to adhere to the idea that the lunatics within al-Qaeda are just a bunch of misunderstood folks who mean us no real harm (you guys have more in common with Obama than  you do with the GOP).  Love, Dope, Peace!

The pro-marijuana/drug users are back in full force with a new Bill in hand (as amended), and once again with Governor Malloy in their pocket:

(please click the link above for the draft version)
This version is an extension of the original but with many additional components. Basically, you find a pro-marijuana doctor (Sect. 1, Sub 8) who can diagnosis you with an debilitating medical condition (as loosely defined under Sect. 1 Sub. 10), who then takes his nifty pad, and writes you a certified note (Sect. 1, Sub. 12) that you're marijuana-fit, and you're good to go!

It's also nice to see the medical lobby is well represented in this bill by it's army of attorneys - HB5389 carefully outlines all the protections afforded to Doctors and "caregivers"; making then free from prosecution (and accountability) for anything their patients do, or they may have done to promote marijuana use, and or the results of that act as long as they've covered their rears with the right checklist (Sect. 5 and Section 6):

"(Sect 5): A qualifying patient or a primary caregiver may assert the palliative use of marijuana as an affirmative defense to any prosecution involving marijuana, or paraphernalia relating to marijuana, under chapter 420b of the general statutes or any other provision of the general statutes, provided such qualifying patient or such primary caregiver has strictly complied with the requirements of sections 1 to 15, inclusive, of this act."

and...

(Sect. 6): . (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2012) "A physician shall not be subject to arrest or prosecution, penalized in any manner, including, but not limited to, being subject to any civil penalty, or denied any right or privilege, including, but not limited to, being subject to any disciplinary action by the Connecticut Medical Examining Board or other professional licensing board, for providing a written certification for the palliative use of marijuana..."

This bill is one that even Michael Jackson's Doctor would approve.  If only Conrad Murray had Jackson under his care in Connecticut, right?; he'd probably be onto his 30th cadaver by now, and able to afford to live large on an big estate next to Tom Foley in Old Greenwich.

I was happy to read to read that there are a few positives in the bill, including some restrictions outlined in Sect. 2, Sub (a)2, its nice to know that potheads won't be permitted to smoke their way onto a transit bus, or ... god forbid, a school bus. Boy, these legislators think of everything, don't they? I'm beginning to feel safer already.

This bill is just another move in the direction to legalize all kinds of drugs, and activities (or at least decriminalize them).  Democrats are carefully inching step-by-step toward a world where drugs of all kinds are perfectly acceptable so long as they are administered by the State; nothing is beyond reproach if the State can simply get its cut of the action.

The victims of these bills are the generations of children who will grow up watching their parents smoking their brains away, and worse - they themselves becoming addicted to even more deadly alternatives which will put their lives in peril.  Democrats don't want to talk about the tie-in that drugs - even marijuana  - has to serious crimes like larceny and even murder.  Democrats will tell you that no-one dies over dime bag of weed, yet it seems that we read week after week about drug-related gang shootings across the Country.

Making access to drugs easier is not the brightest move by our Government. And making those who should be accountable for perscribing them, like doctors, less accountable makes even less sense.  It makes the job of the policeman, drug councilor, addiction staff member, and even the teacher that much harder.  When hearings are held on March 7, the fact that the drug enthusiasts will drag out cancer victims and use the testimony of AIDS victims to use as props to advance their agenda is both unfortunate and disgraceful - because it masks the real intentions of pro-marijuana advocates, and disgards the real consequences for the rest of society.

Buzz off, Copper! I've got a certification from Dr. Roraback!
And you wonder what this world is coming to?  Take a look around you.  It's pretty plain to see.  I'm sure CT Democrats will find a way to make smoking crack legal next!

Legislative Action Alert: HB 5024 : Renamed: Bill to Eliminate Connecticut Republican Victories

It's all fun and games until somebody
loses an election - a Republican
somebody, of course
Well, my fellow Connecticut Republicans: So you think winning an election is hard work now in one of America's deepest, darkest, bluest states?

Were you amused in January by New Haven Mayor John DiStefano's bold idea to allow illegal aliens the right to vote?

Did you enjoy watching Connecticut Democrats carve up our towns into uneven, illogical and nearly unwinnable districts for Republicans in nearly every place they could?  Did you get a laugh out of Professor Nathaniel Persily's feigned attempt at fairness during his court appointed redistricting special master charade?

Well if you loved all of THAT - then you're going to REALLY love THIS!

Currently awaiting approval in the Connecticut House of Representatives is:

(please click the link above and read the fine print)

I strongly recommend that you commit the bill number to memory because you're going to be hearing plenty about it very soon.  In summary, this bill would allow anyone to wander up to a polling place on Election Day and Register to Vote so they may participate in the election currently underway!  Attached to the Bill is the the archaic plan to introduce an online voting system which would fall under the control of Connecticut's Secretary of States Office

Not suprisingly, the four activist Democrats sponsoring the Bill are:

REP. DONOVAN, 48th District

REP. SHARKEY, 88th District

SEN. WILLIAMS, 29th District

SEN. LOONEY,  11th District

The Governor's version of the Bill is located here.

Also of major concern to both voters and Town Registrars is the following language in the Bill:

"The bill requires Election Day registration applicants to declare under oath that they have not previously voted in the election and to provide the same information as people who apply for registration before this date. This means they must state under penalty of perjury (1) their name, bona fide street address, date of birth, and citizenship; (2) whether they are disenfranchised because of a criminal conviction; and (3) whether they were previously registered to vote in another town in this or any other state. They must present their birth certificate, driver’s license, or Social Security card to the admitting official for inspection.

If the applicant’s ID does not include proof of his or her residential address, he or she must submit a driver’s learner’s permit, utility bill due no later than 30 days after the election, or current college registration or fee statement that includes his or her name and current address. The bill allows college students to present their student photo ID in lieu of the identification required by law."

Not only does HB5024 permit people to vote on the same day, it also ensures that fraud can be committed without interference from pesky Town Registrars on Election Day.  This act permits people to vote even if they don't have a license or voter ID card - all they have to do is provide proof of residency - 30 days AFTER the election.  What? Yes, that's right - 30 days after the election?  Are you kidding me?

Recently, Governor Dannel Malloy held a conference call with statewide Registrars of Voters, which included representatives from two states who's Democrat political leanings favor this shenanigans. Currently in the United States there are nine states have some form of same day voter registration: Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Washington DC.  But thirteen states have ended the practice citing widespread fraud, and expense.

And if you've wondered about the expense component; it is planned to shift cost associated with same day registration and online voting to each Connecticut town or city.  Your Secretary of State Denise Merrill recently said that, "[Towns and Cities should take on more of the financial burden associated with elections.]"  Right, as if the towns aren't struggling as it is to balance their own budgets.

It is reported that on principal members of the Registrar of Voters Association of Connecticut (ROVAC) stand against the idea of this same day voting scheme.  But the organization has not taken an activist stance to prevent its passage as of yet.  I would encourage you to contact both ROVAC and your own State Senator, and State Rep and express your disgust with this blatant attempt at fraud (which Democrats will try to sell as voter eligibility).  If you think this idea is a good one, you must be a Democrat because you won't find one Republican supporting such a scandalous plan.

According to the schedule, a PUBLIC HEARING is SCHEDULED for this
Friday, March 2, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in Legislative Office Building, Room 2A
(You must sign up by 9 am if you wish to speak).

Even though this issue will impact every eligible voter in Connecticut, the Committee has "generously" offered a mere HOUR for public debate on the matter, along with other Bills included on the schedule.

I
nterested in seeing how advocates of this liberal initiative see this legislation, then look here. And also at this New York Times article which favors passage written by Harvard Liberal Professor Marion Just.
One way to ensure that Republicans never see majority status in Connecticut ever again is to sit on your tail and do NOTHING to try to stop this bill.  For if you do nothing, you'll see several close elections swing to the Democrats, and there won't be a snowballs chance in Hades of reversing the damage done given that those making the rules, and those who control the courts won't be in any rush to side with Republicans.

I'm hoping to see Chairman Jerry Labriola, Larry Cafero, and the rest of the gang all over this, and helping voters lead the charge against a clear case of STATE-MANDATED voter fraud.

Governor Malloy's latest Debacle

Nightmare in Connecticut
Sorry for the lack of posts during this extrodinary time.  We've several drafts on many topics ready for release, but given the ongoing crisis caused by the October Snowstorm (and compounded by CL&P and Governor Malloy's childish blame-game antics), I've been focused on 1) holding nightly candle-light vigils in my frigid home, 2) trying to keep up with the latest in West Hartford 18th century colonial living standards, and 3) Helping those in need around me who are about to, or have already lost their patience, and -- their minds.

Priorities are priorities, and everyone is doing their best to cope with an insane situation.  It's bad enough to hear stories about elderly people and their pets dying of CO Poisoning as they try to keep warm in their homes, or fist fights taking place at gas stations, but it's frustrating as hell to hear FEMA representatives giving grief to West Hartford Public Works Department Director John Phillips about whether or not, or how the trees are being disposed of in town.

Are you serious?

As you know, Republicans aren't big on the Federal Government running much of anything -but when people are suffering - just trying to get back basic necessities like heat and electricity, and when a Federal Agency like FEMA finally shows up and all they can manage to do is antagonize local leaders and make a stink about wood chips, it makes even my most liberal friends angry.  See, Republicans aren't always wrong - if the Federal Government isn't going to help, they can leave West Hartford and take their bag of redtape and petty demands with them.

It took six days for the misery index to go through the roof before Governor Dannel Malloy finally did what he should have done from the start - activate the Connecticut National Guard to assist public sector employees to remove trees and make streets safe.  This was a no brainer - even for this Governor.  Governor Malloy boasted about how he took a three hour helicopter tour to survey damage during the early part of the week - he was well aware of the extent of damage and the need for large-scale resources.  Our neighboring towns of Simsbury and Avon are in the same shape as some sections of West Hartford - trees blocking roads, and trees smashing powerlines lose causing an ongoing safety hazzard for everyone.  It finally took a bit of pressure from his usual allies at The Hartford Courant to provoke him into action. Reactionism isn't the attribute of a good leader - sorry.

Governor Malloy has not equitted himself well beyond day two of this crisis.  He didn't cause the storm, but he's done a few things to really shrink his reputation to the point of disrepair during this crisis.  First, his reaction to everything has been slow - assessment of the situation lingered for about four days with CL&P not even posting targets for repair until Wednesday for Hartford County. The Governor should have demanded immediate information be distributed publicly by at least Monday... bad news is better than no news in emergency situations. And saying it's going to talk a long time didn't help, either. He left us all flapping in the breeze for much too long.

Second, Dan Malloy's office and his legislative allies echoed the goofy comments that weather forecasters were too blame.  Of all people, it's hard to throw the people who actually got it right - under the bus.  There is no mileage in this game, and as NBC Connecticut's Bob Maxon pointed out in a harsh twitter retort, "CL&P: Don't blame the forecast.. 24-36 hours before the 1st branch fell, we forecasted 1" of snow was very possible... wet-heavy snow."  I understand Maxon wouldn't dare direct a comment at Governor Malloy (and keep his job) but you can bet he was thinking it.  But good for Maxon for sticking up for the truth.

Third, Dan Malloy made the childish. low-brow mistake of placing blame for the power outage at the feet of former Governor Jodi Rell.  This tactic is a page right out of President Obama's playbook - Blame Bush.  The Govenor might want to look at his calendar and recognize that he's about a year into office.  And if he thought trimming trees and improving state infrastructure was equally as, or more important than pushing through his multi-million dollar Busway to Nowhere to satisfy campaign union obligations, than I guess he would have done something about it during over last 10 months he's been in office.

What about all the Hurricane Irene hearings he held, and the thousands of pages of data and testimony that he collected? How many of those recommendations from qualified experts were enacted?  If trimming trees was a recommendation, why didn't Governor Malloy make it a priority with the start of Winter only a month and a half away?

I guess it's policially expedient to blame the previous administration for everything that goes wrong - jobs, economy, taxes, highways, and - now power outages.  Leaders don't place blame and deflect, they take ownership of the problem and manage solutions through to a resolution.  If anyone wondered why Governor Dannel Malloy's popularity rating is in the tank; the worst of any Governor within the Continental U.S., they don't go think back beyond the last week of his bumbling leadership to wonder why.

Connecticut Light and Power's Jeff Butler is equally accountable.  Here's a guy that doesn't pay his bills to external resources on time,  but will tack on a late charge on every poor sap who falls a day past the 30-day due date on his electricity bill.  It's no wonder why the response by out of state resources was "underwhelming".  I have to say it was pretty bizarre listening to a CEO rant on and on for five minutes at the microphone about how frustrated he is with the situation. Not the behavior of most CEOs that I know.  His job is defuse frustration not demoralize the public by talking about his own.  Where did they get this guy?

"Would you say Gov'nor Malloy
has about ...this much influence?"
It's funny 50 miles to our northeast in Boston-town, Governor Duval Patrick was praising the out-of-state response in Massachussets.  The image of Duval sticking his tongue out at our Gov'nor certainly came to mind.  Nowithstanding, Butler's smirky smile and arrogance, Governor Malloy could have used whatever influence he claims to have to bring in support where needed.  This begs the question as to whether Governor Malloy is considered just another Yankee Big Mouth amongst his peers, and not the next great Democrat political superstar he believes himself to be.  It appears that the only influence Malloy has is with his own peanut gallery in the legislature (oh, and apparently this includes quite a few Republicans too).

Well, at least he and Governor Patrick can have a laugh about how old Duval upstaged and made a fool out of Dannel in the Press.  Must be nice to have friends so close.

I'm sure somewhere Tom Foley is sitting in his high-back leather chair in his toasty office sipping burbon and smoking his cigar, blowing smoke rings, thanking God Almighty that he didn't have to deal with all the shananigans and crisises of the past two months.  It makes you wonder what #Winning is really all about?  Meanwhile, we have a loud mouth at the podium, posturing and talking his head off, while hundreds of thousands of people are suffering - out of water, out of power, out of heat, and out of patience.

Under Dan Malloy, we have residents fighting with residents, residents fighting with police, police fighting with local officials, and local officials fighting with the FEMA and unions, and Dan Malloy storming out of meetings.  Nice job Dan.  You really set the standard!

Angry Dan needs a Plan..
because blaming Rell and Maxon won't cut it
(and stop firing your staff members every
week - it might help!)

Next up, we have an election planned for this coming Tuesday which aught to be really interesting.  Because something tells me that all the lights won't suddenly turn on across the Nutmeg State at precisely 11:59 pm on Sunday evening.  Let's send a message, and make November 8th a referendum on Governor Malloy and his Democrat controlled Legislature, and send them a message that we voters understand exactly how out of touch Democrats are with constituents.

Ok, rant over... I had to get something out.  Now I'm off to buy a few more candles for tonight's vigil.

Meanwhile, I'll leave you with this and if you look closely, you'll see Dan Malloy!

A New Dawn for Connecticut Republicans

A New Dawn for the CTGOP!
The King and his Army send formal congratulations to our new Connecticut Republican Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. You are hereby knighted Sir Jerry, and are to be given a large white horse to ride, and parcel of land within the second tier fortress. You are further to be granted unlimited access to the Knight's Armory where the finest swords are fashioned, and to the Grismill where the finest Ale in The King's Realm is made. Hurrah for Sir Jerry! For he is a Noble Lord!

Today is a great day for the Republican Party in Connecticut, and more so for the Connecticut conservative movement. The last legislative session, hijacked by a liberal Democrat agenda, saw little to no resistance from our Republican elected officials. In fact, the case could be made that the so-called moderate leaders within the Republican Party sold us out in thought, word, and deed. A boastful Len Cafero, awarded by our previous Chairman, doesn't do "God, Guns, and Gays" - he does very little for our cause, but strike deals with the enemy, surrendering the moral high ground without firing a shot, and then declaring that it could have been worse. Under Jerry Labriola, Jr. - we expect that those days are over.

Democrats have watched our Chairman's election with strained eyes - watching every move and gesture with keen interest. In some ways, we owe them a debt of gratitude for jumping on our Dump Aniskovich bandwagon so early. If they were actually smart over there, they would have quietly cheered on Bill Aniskovich and waited until after he was elected to send out their dispatches of condemnation. Leave it to Nancy DiNardo to run her mouth at the wrong time; we are counting on her to continue as we start the next phase of our Take Back Connecticut Campaign.

Back to a little more inside baseball.

We have to admit that yesterday's quick conclusion to the Chairman's ballot was a bit of a surprise. Surely, the fact that Catherine Marx was unable to form a coalition between herself and other candidates proved to be the final blow to her designs on the Chairmanship. Strangely, the sudden late push by Jim Campbell of Greenwich, backed by Rick Torres of Bridgeport revealed the thickness of smoke and confusion on the battlefield. Jim Campbell was running around telling people he had as many as 40 votes. Most politicos know that people who run around bragging about what they have, likely have nothing. Candidates who actually have the numbers - say nothing. They do not try to bluff their way to victory, as in the case of Mr. Campbell (and Linda McMahon).

Well, now it's Sir Jerry's turn. And frankly speaking there is a heck of lot of work to be done.

First internally there is the work of the mending of the souls. Only a fool would claim that Jerry's win was a landslide. Jerry earned 43 or so votes to Catherine Marx's reported 25. Marx's votes were mostly geographical in nature - the usual first district stalwarts garnered by the usual suspects - Moccabee, Turner, etc. What this means is that the CTGOP is pretty much split down the middle as Labriola takes the helm.

How we as a Party respond to this division and work to come together in unison (or not) is going to be extremely important to the potential for progress that we can make as a political force. Face it - Jerry Labriola, Jr. will need help in every district, and from every Republican Chairman, coordinator, and individual in the land. It will be a true to test of character to see who stands up to be counted on to help our new Chairman be successful. Continued infighting, and posturing, or the making of demands by certain groups will only help and aid the enemy. Republicans now have a unique opportunity to form a powerful and productive force against Dan Malloy, Nancy Dinardo, and Legislative Democrats; and to formulate a strategy to purge the Democrat cancer that is plaguing Connecticut Taxpayers and Businesses.

Or we can chose the nasty path. We can sulk, whine, create disunity, and destroy each other through name calling and employing the usual sabotage tactics to help ensure that Democrats stay in power forever. The choice lies with the Catherine Marx's, the Art Moccabees, the Tom Foleys, and all those who live in the first district who are crying in their Cheerios this morning. Take a few days to reflect on what has come to pass, and then for the sake of the Taxpayers (if not the Party) come together to focus on turning Connecticut - red.

Also, I should recognize and congratulate our new Vice Chair Themis KlaridesThe King will be carefully watching Rep. Klarides with great interest.  Many suspect her inclusion as a ploy to help steer State Central on behalf of her moderate collegues in the Legislature.  Time will tell what Ms. Klarides' agenda really is. We note that she voted against Repeal of the Death Penalty, and against the Paid Sick Leave Bill, but unfortunately in favor of Same Sex Marriage, and Decriminalizing Marijuna.  So the record is mixed, and it will be interesting to see what influence she'll have on the CTGOP's public platform.

The King also congratulates new State Secretary Art Scialabba, and Gary Schaffrick as our new State Treasurer.  Both will do a fine job in their respective roles.

A week or so from now, I'm planning to publish a piece called "Winners and Losers". But before I do this, I want to give people ample time to cool down and reflect on what has just transpired. Whether one is a good loser or a sore loser will depend on how they conduct themselves over the next few weeks.

As witnessed, several of last night's losers stormed out of the building after hearing ballot totals read. That human reaction is both painful and emotional, I know. In politics, losing stinks. And there isn't any other way to look at it. Which is why campaigning on any scale is not for the weak of heart or soft of skin. When you lose its as if your the total sum of your being has been rejected. You feel a deep pit in your stomach, and you see yourself as cast off -- alone; it's as though you are staring out from a dark, narrow tunnel. Being rejected by your peers (in this case those sitting right next to you) is about as bad a feeling as it gets emotionally.

Now it's time for Jerry Labriola to select his team. He should do this of his own accord and without a thousand motley fools whispering in his ear. I urge him to take his time and chose wisely. Talent and loyalty are the best characteristics that he can find in an individual charged with the important tasks set before us. I hope he examines every aspect of the individuals who will apply for key positions. All to often there are geniuses at the top setting direction which are in turn stifled by morons selected for the execution of plans at the next tier. And remember, there is no advantage to employing a loyal, but incompetent person in any role. They cost more than they are worth!

Pray Jerry's team is a competent and capable one. We are all counting on a successful two years.

At this point, it's important to recognize one of the architects of this little revolution - Mr. Joseph Visconti.  Regardless of what you hear, and the revisionist history that will take place when we are all white-haired dinosaurs sitting around the retirement home parlor, it was Mr. Visconti who played a key role in recruiting Jerry Labriola, Jr.  To his credit, Visconti has asked for nothing in return.  Say what you want about Joe, but he is a tireless arbiter of the Conservative Momement in Connecticut, and an unsung hero of the Republican cause (and he's going to kill me for putting this in here).  You will never meet a more selfless activist than Joe.  And those who have taken the time to get to know Joe, know this well.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the happiness many of us share about seeing Bill Jenkins out of the Secretary's position. The lowest of the low has been knocked off his perch - destined to return to cigar blogs where - I guess - he has the most credibility. Although he only lost by a slim margin, it shows that there is still a majority of State Central Members that find using such vulgar language against women unacceptable for any leader of our Party. I'm glad we were able to settle this internally without the media using Jenkins as a tool to aid Democrats. Jenkins thought he was a mercenary, but in fact his entire contribution was akin to an Islamic suicide bomber detonating himself in an empty warehouse.  Good Riddance!
