Is Sandy Hook Dan Malloy's Reichstag Fire Moment?

Connecticut Democrats aided by
liberal judges are eager to contrive
their own Van Der Lubbe moment
The horrific shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School will forever stand out as one of the worst tragedies in Connecticut History; perhaps, only the Hartford Circus Fire of 1944 may be regarded as the single worst disaster of all time in the Nutmeg State which resulted in 652 casualties including 168 deaths.

When incidents like these arise - accidental or not - politicians are quick to seize the moment of exploitation for their own political designs.  In 1944, in order to quell an outraged public, Connecticut politicians performed a knee-jerk reaction and banned Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus outright from setting foot again in Connecticut; a ban which remained intact until the 1970s.  In much the same way, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and his anti-gun antagonists are using Sandy Hook as their catapult issue to advance their ambitions to ban a variety of guns from the hands of law abiding citizens.

While neither the Great Hartford Circus Fire, nor the Sandy Hook Massacre are believed to be a state contrived catastrophes, the Democrat Party has been very quick to utilize the Sandy Hook tragedy as impetus to advance a political agenda which seeks to redefine the Second Amendment and seize personal weapons and ammunition from law-abiding Americans.  At all times in history, from 1774 to 1862 to 1933 to 2014, tyrants have gone out of their way to eliminate the means of citizens to defend themselves - not from each other - but from Government.

After the events of Sandy Hook, Connecticut Democrats quickly maneuvered to pass legislation to enact what they called, "one of the toughest gun laws in the country." Without a public hearing, any debate, rhyme nor reason, the law passed just past 1 am on April 4 in the Connecticut Senate and was immediately signed into law midday on April 4, 2013 by Dannel Malloy.  The law includes creating a registry for guns that hold more than 10 magazines, the banning of high capacity magazines, creating the country's first so-called dangerous weapons offender registry, and most important - a ban on guns considered "assault weapons" (although the definition is highly subjective).

Connecticut law demanded that all gun owners were to register their assault weapons and declare their large capacity magazines prior to December 31, 2013 or face prison sentence up to five years and/or a $5000 fine.  Editors at The Hartford Courant, the liberal newspaper of record were quick today to sum up their position on the matter: "If you want to disobey the law, you should be prepared to face the consequences."  Really?  Funny, did you mean all laws or just these gun laws recently passed?

The King can't remember similar finger-wagging sentiment from The Courant when it comes to following the law to show IDs to vote, or deporting illegal aliens who are here illegally after-all. Taking it a step further we've seen The Courant's employees support other benefits for illegals including free tuition loans, drivers licenses, and even the right to vote for President.  Then we could go into hundreds of examples were laws are bent to support the President's decision to change the HealthCare Reform Bill at least 22 times without a vote, or to expand Executive Power through the use of Executive Orders.  It's amazing to know that those who once spent their college years adorned in beads and sandals, adhering to Dennis Leary's Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out mantra, cursing Richard Nixon and the abuses of the Executive Branch have grown-up to become Big Government's loudest surrogates pushing the expansion of Government control over individuals rights.  Boy, times changed!

So now the media sits and waits.  And we wait - for the knock at the door.  Surely, there must be a Marinus Van Der Lubbe, or Tea Party member who harbors ill-will against Connecticut's Governor and all his statutes.

Malloy will use the State Police to
identify a nice "violator" to make an
example of

Just think.  There will be a raid on some quaint Connecticut town as if this were Waco, Texas.  The Connecticut State Police, in a blaze of glory, will storm some home (which will referred to as compound) with para-military SWAT teams and tanks.  This will take place in a small town like Morris, or Barkhamsted, or Ansonia, or Chaplin.  Many will be taken into custody, and dozens of so-called "military-style" weapons will be seized, and put on display for the public to see.

A big court spectacle will be held and it will be
covered by George Colli of WTIC who will
tweet us every tasty morsel

The Gun Rights members will be hauled before a Kangaroo Court where they will have already been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion as madmen who adhere to a 225 year old document.

Dan Malloy, and his Democratic cronies will pose with the
offending Constitutionalists, and seek to ban the right of
five or more conservatives so assemble at any given time

Now admittedly some of the worst gun-related shooting sprees have occurred on American soil in only the past few years. We saw Douglas Williams gun down seven people at a Lockheed Martin Plant in Mississippi; then in 2007 Seung Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people near the Virginia Tech Campus, then in 2010, Jared Lee Loughner shot Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford and murdered six others; In 2011, James Eagan Holmes dressed as The Joker shot 12 people in a Colorado movie theatre; in 2012 Andrew Engeldinger gunned down seven people in a movie theatre; in 2013, Gay Muslim Aaron Alexis killed 13 people at a Navy Shipyard,  as we know all too well in 2012, Adam Lanza killed 26 people, mostly children at Sandy Hook Elementary.  And there is one interesting connection  between all of these people  - every single one of them was a Registered Democrat.  And if you check out the local Hartford, Bridgeport, or New Haven police blotter - well, you'll probably find that a majority of those arrested or being sought for gun related murders aren't diehard Mitt Romney supporters.

While Governor Dan Malloy, and his chief hatchet man, Michael Lawlor, scheme up new ways to harass Connecticut gun owners, and The Hartford Courant serves as a Joseph Goebbels-style propaganda ministry on their behalf, we await the first victim (or set of victims) to be put before Connecticut's left-wing judicial firing squad.

And don't count on moderate Republican Leaders like John McKinney, Larry Cafero (or would be leaders like Tom Foley) to come to your rescue.   They're just a band of conscientious objectors happy to sit on the sidelines while law abiding citizens get railroaded.

Duct Tape Dynasty

Three Connecticut Jackasses; Exporting perversion through the flashing of Gang Signs; How Quaint
Taping their mouths is the best way to go!
It's not every day that your dream comes true.

And you get to see at least two members of Connecticut's maniacal Congressional delegation photographed with their mouths duct-taped closed.  I'm sure Nutmeggers were just as shocked to not see a drop of criticism from Connecticut's pro-Democrat press about their inappropriate behavior.  Given the plight of the U.S. economy (particularly in Connecticut), high unemployment rate, laughable healthcare reform, and inept foreign policy - you would think they'd be more focused on issues important to those of us right here at home instead of devoting energy to protesting social policy of a second world country doing its best to host the Olympic games.  But perhaps I missed it - did anyone vote to send any one of these three clowns to protest Russian domestic policy?  We think not.

All these three have done is to make Olympic-sized asses of themselves while embarrassing the State of Connecticut in the process. Perhaps that"s nothing new.

The King was happy to see such a positive response to my piece Barack Obama and NBCs Gaying of the Olympic Games which exposed the American loony left's tantrums as nothing more than an attempt to spoil the Winter Olympic Games over drummed-up gay-prejudice in Russia.  Sadly, few columnists, even those on the conservative side, have bothered to point out the fact that there's nothing implicitly anti-homosexual in Russian Law; it's simply that the Russians have been careful to not equate the definition of what comprises a traditional family as having anything to do with same sex partnerships. This is a stance that's been held and accepted globally since before Biblical time.  American pop culture enthrallment with reclassifying traditional gender identification is largely limited to those who were either sexually-abused, scorned for life by their opposite gender, or those looked to heighten their sexual experience out of boredom.

When it comes to liberal outrage over the Olympic hosting venue, one would think the International Olympic Committee would have vetted the situation in Russia ahead of rewarding them the games. If Russian domestic policy is good enough for the IOC, then it should be good enough for everyone else.  Based on gay demands, the Olympics should only be held in countries with perfect civil rights records (of course, the gay agenda has nothing to do with human rights - this is their latest angle).  But I guess this means that by this outrageous standard that the Olympics wouldn't be held in China, Korea, Russia, Italy, Greece, Ukraine, Ireland, or any Middle Eastern or African country. Instead the Olympics would be held only in the United States and Canada where alternative lifestyles proliferate.  Well, good luck with that!

Liberals preach the bold-fast lie that somehow American culture has recently - as if suddenly over the last 5 years - accepted the homosexual lifestyle as "normal".  Of course this nothing short of pure nonsense.  What has actually happened over the past five years is that against the public will, liberal trial attorneys have successfully pushed their pro-gay litigation agenda in front of liberal activist judges who are eager to advance their causes.  Moreover, the White House has abused its power by using the Justice Department to take a pro-homosexual position or enforce pro-gay policies (very similar to the way Obama has squashed U.S. border security efforts).

The coordinated effort to contaminate our society goes well beyond the White House's relentless effort to revise American cultural norms. Both Hollywood and the television entertainment industry - aided by a willing media - have gone out of their way to introduce gay characters, episode story lines, movies, and variety talk-show hosts in order to paint gays as some type of religiously discriminated, woe is me, down-trodden individuals begging for every one's mere love and affection.

As if someone like Ellen Degeneres or Rosie O'donnell is just like you and me.

Of course, the truth is so different. The underlying goal of homosexual activists is to substantiate their their own perverse behavior by trying to convince everyone else that their abnormal behavior is perfectly normal.  In order to advance their agenda, gays work to weaken traditionally accepted moral values and the accepted catechism of mainstream society.  This is why they loathe both the mainstream Christian Church and The Republican Party - for both of these organizations stand between them and the free-for-all society they desire which they believe will somehow absolve them of their personal sin.

The victory for the homosexual community is not turning everyday Americans into gay activists, but rather to get them to passively accept homosexuality behavior as no different than any other traditional family.  The gay cliche "Silence is Acceptance" benefits the gay-perversion community particularly when Christians chose the path of least resistance and look the other way each time the gay agenda inches its way forward to equate itself with the traditional family unit.  Christians have an obligation to stand up for what is right, not sit quietly on their hands, or groan behind closed doors while gay perversion disassembles our society.

The Family Institute of Connecticut was correct this week in taking Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and Senator Chris Murphy to task for using her Congressional positions to demonstrate hatred for Russia and Traditional Family Values.  What The King worries about most is what appears to be an ongoing corrosion of our Republican Party by moderates who don't think social issues have any place in our platform.  Many of these people sit in CTGOP leadership positions, and they are the worst kind of collaborative cowards - they would sell us out to Democrats for a vote on a highway bill or to scrape a few bucks into their pockets for some pork program which benefits their district (people like Linda McMahon, John McKinney, Larry Cafero, Tom Foley and Chris Shays - to name a few).  It's no surprise that with leaders like these that bills like Transgender Bathroom bill and others pass with little or not resistance.

If the pro-family leaders have abandoned the Connecticut Republican Party under Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr (another silent accomplice of the left who leads from the rear), then at what point will Conservative Republicans abandon the CTGOP?  You have to laugh at liberal reporters from the Hartford Courant urging Connecticut Republicans to continue to move to the center of the road claiming that's where elections are won.  That's funny because it's not worked out well for rich social liberals like Chris Shays, Andrew Roraback, Rob Simmons, Linda McMahon, and Tom Foley.  From The King's experience - if you wander out in the middle of the road, you're bound to get hit.  Did anyone ever think it might be time to reverse the trend and give Connecticut a choice between Democrat and Democrat-lite?

If Connecticut Republican leaders try to tell you that championing social issues isn't popular, what they really mean to say is that fighting for traditional social positions isn't popular with them.  The best answer is to replace existing leaders, representatives, and candidates with those who might better represent the interests of their constituency.  Heck, we might even win an election or two!

While Democrats fan the flames of class, age, gender war, and push special rights for special interest groups - like gays et al, Republicans (especially those in Connecticut) retreat on Constitutional principles like second amendment rights, and run and hide when it comes to supporting traditional family values.

One Republican tried to take The King to task by arguing, "Well, this isn't North Carolina or Texas."  You know - they're right.  Both of those states have growing economies, low unemployment rates, and  laws supporting traditional marriage, and family values.  Strangely enough, they didn't give up social policies in favor of economic ones.

So, while Rosa DeLauro, Chris Murphy, and Elizabeth Esty prance around on the world stage with their gay pride flags illuminating Connecticut as a High-Tax, Anti-Business, Homosexual Haven, just keep in mind that our Connecticut Republican leaders are stifling any chance of reversing the trend because they don't have the moral courage to stand up for the principles which have always made our state and our nation strong.

THE KING

The Arrogance of Lies and Deceit

It's getting to the point these days where it's hard to even pick up a newspaper for fear that the third or fourth shoe might drop in Connecticut's ongoing epic drama: Scandals and the Scandalous.  The problem with the whole damn thing is that this isn't your typical Reality TV show which usually ends with a rags-to-riches multi-million dollar prize winner, or the princess winding up with the prince and living happily ever after.  No, it's a real story about how Connecticut residents aren't being served by either political party - one no better than the other, and which have lost - their way, and the public confidence.  In other words, those being nominated as Connecticut's alleged best are in actuality Connecticut's very worst, and the public is getting screwed.

Now, I'm not really concerned with the Democrat Party and what happens to its collection of retreaded has-beens as they crumble in the press.  One doesn't have to look very far to see their head of Party - Governor Dannel Malloy place politics over reason when he went out of his way last month to support ex-con Ernie Newton.  Governor Malloy could have saved face and elevated his office by standing up for public decency and declaring that there isn't room anywhere in Connecticut politics for corrupt cretins like Newton.  So instead of taking the opportunity to inspire and rise above it all by preaching that crime doesn't pay, our incredible shrinking Governor got up on his high horse and declared that everyone deserves a second chance - everyone except former Republican Governor John Rowland, that is.  Could Party or Politics have played a role in such an unwavering endorsement? Oh, of course not!

Then we have Connecticut House Speaker Chris Donovan's finance scandal which continues to rock the scene and fill up our newspapers with tales of corruption and shady dealings.  Boy, what a credit to the State of  Connecticut - FBI agents showing up on doorsteps to visit our politicians still in their bathrobes while they sip lattes from their golden mugs.  How quaint. Amusing stuff to yuck up on Face The State right Brendan Sharkey? Sharkey told Dennis House this past Sunday: "Hahaha.  Well... it was a little embarrassing, because they asked about this bill, this roll your own bill.. I thought there were talking about the medical marijuana bill.. hahahaha.  Not the actual bill".  What a knee-slapping moment to share with the peanut gallery.  I mean it was so funny, I almost forgot to laugh.

And special thanks for Themis Klarides for doing such a nice job supporting Donovan on behalf of the CTGOP, "I agree with Brendan about how we feel about Chris, his character and integrity.... a man of his word and honor."  Hey, that's great! Why don't you campaign for him in CT-5 too while you're at it?  All week long, the Democrats shut Republicans out of the legislative process and our so-called leader just kissed the rear of the guy who helped orchestrate the shut-out.  Brilliant!  Republicans are self-checked with this kind of hair-brained leadership.  Amazing!

Connecticut Democrats can take pride in turning the Legislative Office Building into a scene from CSI.  It must have been a relief for the Democrat Party's key constituents - city dwellers, to see the cops crawling all over Party bigwigs instead of them for a change.  Of course, Governor Malloy couldn't keep his big mouth shut and let due process take its course - he had to run out and defend Donovan - "guilty until proven innocent,"  barked Malloy.  Man o' Man, this guy must have been some prosecutor.  But its no surprise to see Malloy defend bad guys like Donovan and Newton, because he repeated the same act a few months ago when he supported Komisarjevsky and Hayes - albeit indirectly through elimination of the Death Penalty.

The sad thing in all of this madness is that Connecticut Republicans aren't positioned to take advantage of Democrats getting pummelled on the ropes.  And that's because we're too busy bumping Democrats from the front page with our own own dirty scandals filled with tales of corruption and dishonesty.  Or we're too busy running candidates like the well-scripted Linda McMahon who can't even talk about - let alone defend - the dirty industry that she's made her millions from - which makes her a non-starter in the first place against even the worst Democrat the opposition might field in November.

So Lisa Wilson-Foley takes center stage as the CTGOPs corrupt candidate of the year.  Lisa Wilson-Foley told the press, "This is all a distraction.  I'm focused on the issues."  Yeah, well newsflash, BabeYOU are the distraction, and YOU are the issue!  You, Mr. Tuesday, Apple Rehab, and former Governor John Rowland.  It's sort of amazing to listen to John Rowland on WTIC these days - acting completely and utterly oblivious to all of this as he rages on against organized labor - he has some nerve.  It's like he's living in a parallel universe somewhere totally aloof to his role in helping the Wilson-Foley-Healy campaign crash and burn, and helping to create a level-playing field for Democrats in the Fifth Congressional District who should be sucking wind at this point in the game.  Can you imagine how many screeners TIC callers probably have to go through to get to The Guv?  I wouldn't be surprised if WTIC has a 4 minute delay just so they can beep out, or drop any caller who starts to go down the "wrong road" with unapproved questioning.

A friend of mine called me the other day to taunt me over the latest Republican headlines.  He said, "King, you have to agree that your team isn't any better than our team.  And in a Blue State where Democrats usually win - you guys are screwed because the public doesn't see you as decent alternativeThey'll stick with our cronies over your upstart crooks.  And Linda McMahon - she's a real gas.  Good luck with that one. Hahaha."

"Look fellas, no commercials, but at least Chris Shays has
his plane in the air. Formica, Obstinek, you're next!"

You have to feel bad for our stealth Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr.  Here Democrats are coming apart at the seams, yet our ex-Governor fueled by our ex-Chairman turn our Party into a totally mockery, and a non-factor.  On the one hand, you have Mrs. 38%  running around thinking she's going to be U.S. Senator, Lisa the Millionaire Barbie pretending that no part of the scandal has anything to do with her, and the rest of Republican field seems to be bouncing on and off the ground at 15 mph in their biplanes as CTGOP's worst candidates scream by in Jumbo Jets showering manure on the frustrated public below.  The whole thing is a living nightmare.

Just to think, tonight is the eve of the one year anniversary of Jerry Labriola, Jr. announcing he was running for State Chairman - if only he had crystal ball to see what fate had in-store for him: crooks, by-offs, bribes, and self-destructing candidates.  And party insiders who were willing to disregard polls prior to the State Convention, and then later buy-into polls showing favor toward their palm-greasing benefactor.  You can't make this stuff up.  And you can't prop up the unelectable either.  It's self-fulfilling prophecy - what has happened before will happen again.  And the Pat Sullivans of the world will laugh all the way to the bank regardless of the outcome while the rest of us can only dream of what might have been.

And one final note, The Norwich Bulletin's Ray Hackett surmised in his latest piece that that neither delegates nor voters care about the WWE.  It's not that, Ray.  It really isn't that.  It's that given the overall state of our political climate in Connecticut, and the pathetic and unqualified choices voters have been given to choose from - simply put - it's that no-one cares.  And that's a tough place to be in when you're wanting to turn a Blue State partially Red after nearly 23 years.

Someone remind me why I'm Republican again?

The King's Christmas List

Don't kid yourselves. All politicians
belong on the Naughty List!
With Christmas only 7 days away we thought we'd make a few suggestions for what Santa Claus might bring some of our friends and foes on Christmas Day.  Obviously, this is tongue and cheek, so don't get too cranky... you might want to take a big gulp of that Christmas Punch before reading on, and perhaps take the hidden advice given.

The King's Christmas List:

Chris Donovan:  A copy of the novel:  Conflict of Interest by Nancy Taylor Rosenberg. (As if you didn't know the ending.)

Jerry Labriola, Jr.:  FIFA 2012 for his PlayStation 2, and a set of balls to replace the ones he missing (you figure that one out).  Last chance to get it out of neutral, Jerry!

Chris Healy:  A steady job shoveling snow in far away Antarctica, where he can't ruin the chances of additional Connecticut Republicans from getting elected.
DeStefano aught to be careful what he
asks for when it comes to his illegal
immigrant voting scheme
Mayor John DeStefano:   The influx of 500,000 new illegal aliens into New Haven to advance his illegal immigrant voting scheme - and all the trouble that comes with them.  I mean what's another 500,000 in the bread line - between friends? May they all set up a Shanty Town on his lawn.

Christopher Shays:  At least a C rating from the NRA, a divorce from the gay-rights crowd, and a well-stoked fire under his rear.  Are you actually running for Senate or what?

This fool can't even handle a power
outage, and he fancies himself fit
for the White House?. Dream on!
Governor Dan Malloy:  A bullet proof vest to keep him safe from his own fringe Union and State Employee constituency, who he gave just about everything except the kitchen sink during budget negotiations, and who still want more. Food for Thought: You might want to position Nancy Wyman in front of you during future press conferences (instead of next to you).

"Firebrand" Joe Visconti: A new pick-up truck. How does that rust-bucket pass emissions?

It's pretty clear that President
Obama doesn't have a clue
what he's doing
President Obama A Clue. A Clue about anything. And a better copy of Microsoft Powerpoint for those hard to edit Birth Certificate documents. C'mon man, 162 edits?

Coach Jim Calhoun:  A UConn Husky Basketball team free of petty thieves, boozers, and criminals. Would be nice have a year without seeing UConn's reputation tarnished in the national media over player misconduct.  Maybe its high time to conduct criminal background checks on all your recruits.

Coach Gino Auriemma:  A large bottle of humility, and the sense to understand that winning in an uncompetitive Woman's NCAA Division is nowhere close to winning in the NCAA Men's Division. Stop whining about your pay - you're lucky to have the salary you take given your written and verbal communication skills make you sound like a two-bit hoodlum from some back alley in a Hartford Ghetto.  Maybe we could get you into an English Class as part of your compensation so as not to further embarrass the University.

Let it be said that CT Sen
Joe Markley sold his soul
for a WWE Action Figure
Linda McMahon: The courage to step into the squared circle and come out from hiding behind her handlers and conduct a set of meaningful, unscripted interviews. And the fortitude to stop replying to the media by carefully worded emails, and the guts to answer legitimate questions about her company's role in the deaths of her employees, and ongoing pay-offs to RTCs and convention delegates.

Lisa Wilson-Foley:  A massive scandal to bring some life to her faltering campaign (talk to Chris Healy, he can help you generate notoriety).  And maybe a fourth campaign director.

Don't worry Nancy,
its hard to stay fit
these days
Nancy DiNardo:  A treadmill, and a year-long pass to Curves

Joe Markley:  A new beret that doesn't make you look like a artsy French Partisan.  You need to be careful or Peter Wolfgang's FIC might suspect you as queer in drag.

The Coutu-burg campaign is ready
to take flight... or maybe not.

Chris Coutu: A year's supply of Bubblelicious Chewing Gum for his long days in Hartford, and his very own MetLife blimp so everyone in the Second Congressional District can see his name in capital letters - all at once.  Oh, the humanity!

Martha Dean:  A one-way ticket to deep space for her lunatic ex-husband.
Justin Bernier:  Another fictional military installation deal to broker - perhaps Fort Griswold needs saving?

Write me in. Doesn't
matter for what.
Rob Simmons: A write-in campaign so he run commercials claiming he's still on the ballotDoesn't matter what ballot, does it?

The First Congressional District:  A Republican challenger to John Larson.  Any takers?  And we are taking note of all those cowards unwilling to run because it's an Obama re-election campaign year (betting African-American will come out in hordes to support O) but who will suddenly and miraculously emerge from their bunkers in 2013.

John Larson:  A new home renovation by Harry James.

Chris Murphy:  Another new DC-based girlfriend. (Contact Herman Cain for details.)

Tom Foley:  A three-year course at Toastmasters to improve his public speaking skills and give the apparence that he has (at least) a phony level of enthusiasm.  And a copy of the video Da-Da-Da by Trio.  Santa can also send him a Bibb - which he could always sell at a later date.

Pedro will paint the town -
er.. Pink, literally

Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra:  10,000 gallons of pink paint to re-color the parallel lines on every street in Hartford.  This could be a great job for Corey Brinson.

Mark Greenberg: A Super Siren with Mic Yellow Horn Bike Bicycle and a soap-box to stand on so he can be heard.

Mike ("G-Man") Clark: Campaign shirts with an FBI logo on the back, and a new ease-dropping device to spy on the other campaigns in the Fifth Congressional District.

Susan Bysiewicz: Let's see... a four leaf clover, a bird to poop on her, a rainbow, a shooting star, a ladybug to land on her, a meeting with a cow (other than Nancy Dinardo), Bats nesting in her home, cats sitting on her front porch, her initials in a spider web, her hands and feet to tingle, having a day wear she puts her clothes on backwards, a meeting with snake, a fairy Godmother with a working wand, a step-stool, and a miracle - to give her a snowballs chance in Hell of winning the Democrat Nomination.

When they say let Larry
Cafero work his magic -
they aren't kidding!
Larry Cafero: A new magic eight ball for the Governor-wannabe so he can he can claim a point of reference for his decision-making process.  This will be useful when it comes to  explaining why he caves in to Democrats - all the time.

Rick Green:  The strength to write a column that is critical of his Democrat pals this coming year ... or maybe two or three to balance out the 50 or so anti-Republican entries he'll likely post this year.

Rosa DeLaura:  A truck-load of Luvs Diapers and a new broom-stick.  (Ok, that was all too easy, I admit it)

Rosa DeLauro - that's no
ordinary broom-stick mind you.

Joe Courtney:  More blush and eyeliner for his next photo-op. Crikey, Man! Or Ma'am!

Jim Himes:  10,000 more followers on Twitter than Chris Murphy (not including Murphy's love interests).

The Hartford Courant:  A parent company that isn't bankrupt.

Kevin Rennie:  Honest to Goodness Democrat Party affiliation, and therapy. (Still beating up on former Governor John Rowland I see - good grief!  Four paragraphs and Rowland managed to find his way into your column.  Let it go. Let it go.

Yosemite Scott at your service
Tom Scott:  An Anger Mangement Class run by Yosemite Sam.  A copy of Napoleon's Autobiography so he can run Linda's campaign as successfully as he ran others. (Pay special attention to the Battle of Waterloo - if you get that far

Justin Clark:  A stocking full of coal.

THE KING:  A Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy and Enjoyable New Year for all my readers!  And bright orange jumpsuits and hand-cuffs for most of the people on this list - see you in 2012!

If you didn't make this list, you should feel relieved.  But don't worry, there's always time for me to get to you at some point during the new year.

A New Dawn for Connecticut Republicans

A New Dawn for the CTGOP!
The King and his Army send formal congratulations to our new Connecticut Republican Chairman Jerry Labriola, Jr. You are hereby knighted Sir Jerry, and are to be given a large white horse to ride, and parcel of land within the second tier fortress. You are further to be granted unlimited access to the Knight's Armory where the finest swords are fashioned, and to the Grismill where the finest Ale in The King's Realm is made. Hurrah for Sir Jerry! For he is a Noble Lord!

Today is a great day for the Republican Party in Connecticut, and more so for the Connecticut conservative movement. The last legislative session, hijacked by a liberal Democrat agenda, saw little to no resistance from our Republican elected officials. In fact, the case could be made that the so-called moderate leaders within the Republican Party sold us out in thought, word, and deed. A boastful Len Cafero, awarded by our previous Chairman, doesn't do "God, Guns, and Gays" - he does very little for our cause, but strike deals with the enemy, surrendering the moral high ground without firing a shot, and then declaring that it could have been worse. Under Jerry Labriola, Jr. - we expect that those days are over.

Democrats have watched our Chairman's election with strained eyes - watching every move and gesture with keen interest. In some ways, we owe them a debt of gratitude for jumping on our Dump Aniskovich bandwagon so early. If they were actually smart over there, they would have quietly cheered on Bill Aniskovich and waited until after he was elected to send out their dispatches of condemnation. Leave it to Nancy DiNardo to run her mouth at the wrong time; we are counting on her to continue as we start the next phase of our Take Back Connecticut Campaign.

Back to a little more inside baseball.

We have to admit that yesterday's quick conclusion to the Chairman's ballot was a bit of a surprise. Surely, the fact that Catherine Marx was unable to form a coalition between herself and other candidates proved to be the final blow to her designs on the Chairmanship. Strangely, the sudden late push by Jim Campbell of Greenwich, backed by Rick Torres of Bridgeport revealed the thickness of smoke and confusion on the battlefield. Jim Campbell was running around telling people he had as many as 40 votes. Most politicos know that people who run around bragging about what they have, likely have nothing. Candidates who actually have the numbers - say nothing. They do not try to bluff their way to victory, as in the case of Mr. Campbell (and Linda McMahon).

Well, now it's Sir Jerry's turn. And frankly speaking there is a heck of lot of work to be done.

First internally there is the work of the mending of the souls. Only a fool would claim that Jerry's win was a landslide. Jerry earned 43 or so votes to Catherine Marx's reported 25. Marx's votes were mostly geographical in nature - the usual first district stalwarts garnered by the usual suspects - Moccabee, Turner, etc. What this means is that the CTGOP is pretty much split down the middle as Labriola takes the helm.

How we as a Party respond to this division and work to come together in unison (or not) is going to be extremely important to the potential for progress that we can make as a political force. Face it - Jerry Labriola, Jr. will need help in every district, and from every Republican Chairman, coordinator, and individual in the land. It will be a true to test of character to see who stands up to be counted on to help our new Chairman be successful. Continued infighting, and posturing, or the making of demands by certain groups will only help and aid the enemy. Republicans now have a unique opportunity to form a powerful and productive force against Dan Malloy, Nancy Dinardo, and Legislative Democrats; and to formulate a strategy to purge the Democrat cancer that is plaguing Connecticut Taxpayers and Businesses.

Or we can chose the nasty path. We can sulk, whine, create disunity, and destroy each other through name calling and employing the usual sabotage tactics to help ensure that Democrats stay in power forever. The choice lies with the Catherine Marx's, the Art Moccabees, the Tom Foleys, and all those who live in the first district who are crying in their Cheerios this morning. Take a few days to reflect on what has come to pass, and then for the sake of the Taxpayers (if not the Party) come together to focus on turning Connecticut - red.

Also, I should recognize and congratulate our new Vice Chair Themis KlaridesThe King will be carefully watching Rep. Klarides with great interest.  Many suspect her inclusion as a ploy to help steer State Central on behalf of her moderate collegues in the Legislature.  Time will tell what Ms. Klarides' agenda really is. We note that she voted against Repeal of the Death Penalty, and against the Paid Sick Leave Bill, but unfortunately in favor of Same Sex Marriage, and Decriminalizing Marijuna.  So the record is mixed, and it will be interesting to see what influence she'll have on the CTGOP's public platform.

The King also congratulates new State Secretary Art Scialabba, and Gary Schaffrick as our new State Treasurer.  Both will do a fine job in their respective roles.

A week or so from now, I'm planning to publish a piece called "Winners and Losers". But before I do this, I want to give people ample time to cool down and reflect on what has just transpired. Whether one is a good loser or a sore loser will depend on how they conduct themselves over the next few weeks.

As witnessed, several of last night's losers stormed out of the building after hearing ballot totals read. That human reaction is both painful and emotional, I know. In politics, losing stinks. And there isn't any other way to look at it. Which is why campaigning on any scale is not for the weak of heart or soft of skin. When you lose its as if your the total sum of your being has been rejected. You feel a deep pit in your stomach, and you see yourself as cast off -- alone; it's as though you are staring out from a dark, narrow tunnel. Being rejected by your peers (in this case those sitting right next to you) is about as bad a feeling as it gets emotionally.

Now it's time for Jerry Labriola to select his team. He should do this of his own accord and without a thousand motley fools whispering in his ear. I urge him to take his time and chose wisely. Talent and loyalty are the best characteristics that he can find in an individual charged with the important tasks set before us. I hope he examines every aspect of the individuals who will apply for key positions. All to often there are geniuses at the top setting direction which are in turn stifled by morons selected for the execution of plans at the next tier. And remember, there is no advantage to employing a loyal, but incompetent person in any role. They cost more than they are worth!

Pray Jerry's team is a competent and capable one. We are all counting on a successful two years.

At this point, it's important to recognize one of the architects of this little revolution - Mr. Joseph Visconti.  Regardless of what you hear, and the revisionist history that will take place when we are all white-haired dinosaurs sitting around the retirement home parlor, it was Mr. Visconti who played a key role in recruiting Jerry Labriola, Jr.  To his credit, Visconti has asked for nothing in return.  Say what you want about Joe, but he is a tireless arbiter of the Conservative Momement in Connecticut, and an unsung hero of the Republican cause (and he's going to kill me for putting this in here).  You will never meet a more selfless activist than Joe.  And those who have taken the time to get to know Joe, know this well.

Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the happiness many of us share about seeing Bill Jenkins out of the Secretary's position. The lowest of the low has been knocked off his perch - destined to return to cigar blogs where - I guess - he has the most credibility. Although he only lost by a slim margin, it shows that there is still a majority of State Central Members that find using such vulgar language against women unacceptable for any leader of our Party. I'm glad we were able to settle this internally without the media using Jenkins as a tool to aid Democrats. Jenkins thought he was a mercenary, but in fact his entire contribution was akin to an Islamic suicide bomber detonating himself in an empty warehouse.  Good Riddance!
